E320 Fuel Type Confusion

Hi,

I'm still searching out my first E Class, and I found an Ad on Ebay for a 2001 E320 with the fuel type listed as "petrol"?

I thought all 320's were Diesel! or have I been mis-informed.

Cheers

hey!

well no, i think that must have been a typo, all E 320's are 3.2 ltr. V6's. and they are all gas powered, engines, there is also an E 420 which is a very powerful 4.2 ltr. V8 and that is gas powered. i think your thinking of the E300 which are diesels and they are very quiet diesels too.

GOOD LUCK!

You should indicate your country of residence so it's easier for everyone to figure out your concern/problem.

Cheers.

Mercedes made a 3.2L V6 petrol and a 3.2L I6 CDI diesel. Both engines were sold simultaneously in Europe in the W210. The 3.2L I6 CDI never made it to North America until the W211 in 2005.

The 3.2L V6 petrol has since been replaced with the 3.5/3.7L petrol V6 (E350/S350) and the 3.2L I6 CDI has been superceded by the 3.2L V6 CDI.

Yes you're quite right, that would be helpful wouldn't it.

I am in the UK (where we pay arround 5 UKpounds per gallon... that's about 9 USdollars!!! hence the need for a more economical diesel)

Thanks for all the help anyway.

To add to the jumble, the very first W210s ('96-'97) arrived with the inline-6 M104 engine, carried over from the W124, which was also 3.2 l and the car called E320. This engine was replaced by the 3-valve V-6 of 3.2 l and the car designation remained E320.
