new guy needs info
hey ive just got got my first benz. ive just moved to europe for work and needed something thats good on gas ( diesel in this case)
so this is it
96 e300d automatic no sun roof no leather. with 245,000km on the clock got it for 5500E
can some one point out the possible troubles i may have with this engine ?? and what are my choices as far as lowering the diesel ??

congrats on the car! She looks like a sister to mine, great color indeed. Dont know much about the diesel engine, but my advise is to have an inspection done and replace all fluids if they have not been replaced recently. I would do belts, tranny oil, engine oil, antifreeze, steering lube and fluid , brake flush , pads and disks inspection to start with. A thorough inspection on suspension as well.
As for lowering, a set of Bilstein HD's and H&R or Eibach springs will do the trick and your ride will be nicely compliant. If you want stiffer settings then an H&R coilover with larger sways would be in order.
