Talking New Wheels

My wife wanted an upgrade - so I got her a 2000 E320. We take delivery of it later in the week as it is getting prepped and detailed.

Been going around, and see a lot of familiar name tags from the SVTP forum. I'm new to this car, and hope to learn a lot about them as time goes by. The link to the online owners manual has been a great help so far.

Nice looking; looks like Desert Sand with Java interior... there's a total of 43 pictures to look at.

I guess I didn't even think of this, but is that not a stock bumper? I went to look for pictures of it on MSN Autos, and I noticed slight differences. I do think this one looks very sharp either way!

Looks like the OEM / stock front and rear bumper to me. The term 'facelifted' means that the 2000 w210 model was after the slightly redesigned model from previous model years. I think the 'facelift' started with model year 1999 but I don't remember for sure... looking at a few photos online I see the mirrors changed from model year 1999 to model year 2000. I also see that 1997 was the last year for the I-6 motor, so maybe model year 1998 is recognized as the facelift... I'm sure someone will post the correct information!

Yea, the facelift was for the 2000 model year, new hood, fenders, headlights, bumper cover, taillights. It looks nicer IMO.

I got the car today! Drove it home!

Nice ride - awesome in all respects. I thought I was doing good.

Decided to go out on a night drive to test out those Xenon headlight and all - and in rolling up the windows it sounds like the back right window fell off the tracks.

I hope this is an easy fix - both my wife and I are really depressed at the moment

Huachipato Congrats on your new car. Very nice color it's just like mine. The rear window is a common problem for our cars. It hasn't happened to me yet but it will eventually happen anytime soon. Meanwhile I always remind my rear passengers not to roll down the windows. Just do a search in this forum and you should be able to find some answers, I'm sure it's an easy fix. Oh here's a pic of my car.

Wow - that is a beautiful car

I'm thinking I might go a little more extreme than just trying to remember not to roll the windows down and asking friends and family to do the same - I think once I have the window up I will attempt to disconnect it all together on both sides (I'm really hoping there if a fuse I could pull to do this) - hopefully this way not have to deal with the window regulator problem anymore, yet still take advantage of the other features such as the windows down with the remote.

I think it is kind of that MB would allow such a problem through QC. However, if this is the only issue I have, it will be a happy ownership experience.

Thanks, it's just like yours. I think once you get the windows fixed, I believe it's the window regulator, it shouldn't happen again. I think it had something to do with the regualtor's cable being thin and breaking off. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. But anyway, I have two friends who had there's replaced and it has been two years already and still hasn't failed. I'm not sure if MB has an updated part for these windows though. But I sure do wish they would recall it.

My car is the same year as yours and so far I have been happy with it. So enjoy your new car it should last you a very long time.

Well, if it had been up to me, I would have purchased a rivet gun, rivets and a regulator and torn into the door. My wife, being the more sensible one said I should take it back to where I purchased it from - we litterally had it for about 3 hours when the window regulator broke off. I'm glad to say the used car dealer with mechanics on hand did the right thing and fixed the regulator. At my request, he also unpluged the window motors (I was hoping it would have been a simple fuse removal instead, but he told me the front passenger window is tied in with that fuse as well). Few smudges on the window, but all up and running again with no out of pocket funds from my side.

The car right now has almost 89,000 miles on it. It drives great. I'm hoping it will be a joy to own and drive.

Nice looking 'E'; on my '01 E320, the front and rear bumpers, along with the side panels and exhaust looks just like yours. But I noticed yours is an 'AMG'; could you tell me the differences between the two vehicles?

Thank you-

To make it more convincing, front bumper, fog light, side skirt, rear bumper, tail light, B-pillar panel, Chrome exhust pipe all need to be replaced.

oh, okay... I thought I knew the W210 chassis pretty well but I learn something new every day...

I'm in the process of getting information on lowering mine, using HR or Eibach springs and recently put AMG 18"s on it.

Maybe I am just old fashion, I rather make it unique but not be caught as "fake".

No Clue,
You also forgot the car cannot be in desert silver color, E55 AMGs never came in this color. I originally planned on buying all the parts you mentioned but instead of wasting my money on this car I will just save up to buy the real AMG E55.

My apology, I didn't mean to sound like an assxxxx.

People nowadays knows about cars..and when they see a "fake" badge. The value of your car plunge into the cost of that badge.

Then, you are NOT driving "Mercedes", instead, you will be driving "FAKE AMG".
Hope you see my point.

No Clue,
You don't have to apologize I do see your point. I don't want to be caught driving a fake AMG, the only AMG in my car are the rims. I've always dreamed of one day owning the real E55 AMG but I guess I thought for now this is probably the closest I will get to it. Anyway, I did remove the AMG badge, my car can never be an AMG, I should just wake up and remind myself that I'm only driving an E320. But one day I will own my dream car (E55 AMG)...... hey life's too short just make the best of it. You only live once!
