No CD Changer, No Phone

So I'm driving to my house, and I try to use the voice activation feature to change CDs. Next thing I hear is a high-pitched sound, similar to the sound when someone pushes the 'shift' key on a Windows-keyboard five times (stickykeys). Now, I don't have a "NO PHONE" and "NO CDC" messages. I take the CD magazine out, to no avail. I take out the fuse, again, to no avail. I haven't unhooked the battery yet, so I am going to that. Otherwise, it's to the stealership I go...I might consider look at aftermarket CD Changers that are compatible with the OEM set-up...what is the problem? I've read, but no clear answers...

Fuses, blown module (any of the above) or damaged optical cable. If your car has not had any work dont on it recently in the wiring area then look at the fuses or at the actual appliances themselves.

Look at the optical cable and see if it hasnt worked loose from the input socket.

Since the CD changer is connected to the head unit via optical cable, I don't know of any after market changers that are compatable. Your cheapest solution may indeed be to go to the dealership.

Why did you need to unhook the CD changer if the battery was disconnected ?

The fiber optic connection to the Cd Changer has nothing to do with the battery, that is why he unhooked the fiber optic cable from the cd changer.
