MAF Sensor? Try this........

I have a 2001 E320 4Matic and recently my Check Engine Light came on. After some research, I realized it was the MAF Sensor and it could be an easy DIY project. After searching Ebay for the part, I stumbled across this little gem;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Seems you can buy the Bosch Insert only for somewhere around $100. No reason to spend 200 bucks on the whole assembly. I got the sensor only and installed it my current housing in 5 minutes. No more Check Engine light.

Go to that link and then go to the Sellers store. They usually have 1 or 2 up for bidding.

Please understand I am not a mechanic so make sure that you verify that this item will work with your year and model. The listing will state the year and model it applies to. It worked for me.

Good Luck and happy bidding......

Hey, good catch! I didn't know they sold just the insert. This highlights the the insult that $60 to $130 of the whole part (depending on the source) is pure 50 cents worth of plastic tube.

One more thing....you will need a tamper proof Torx screwdriver or ratchet set. The torx screws that need to be removed have a pin in the center (at least it did on mine), hence the tamper proof moniker. Purchased a set at AutoZone for 2.99.

By the way, you can make a tamper-proof torx screw into a regular one by inserting a small flathead screwdriver into the torx gap and snapping off the little pin at the bottom with a twist of the hand. Then use regular torx to unscrew.
