Rear ended by a large utility truck...
Hi Folks:
Here's the damage sustained to my Mercedes after being rear ended by a large utility truck while stopping at a red light. (stop and go traffic).
Very impressed with the way the car took the impact. Now I just need to get my baby fixed!
Truck was large, trunk doesn't close as it should, but all in all, the most damage received was in the bumper....Hopefully all will be well after the repair........I plan on keeping my "tank"...

FYI pdxRealtor, that part that goes across the whole bacl of the car is an insert that comes from the factory in the proper matched color to your car. The dealer can order it and probably costs about $250. Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions!.... after visiting the body shop today, the estimate is getting higher and higher....Because of the impact, it damaged the trunk lid (needs replacement), rear cross bar, some minor frame damage and some rear quarter damage...we're now looking at an original estimate of 1300 dollars now up to close to $4000 to $5000 - luckily I was found at no fault, so the other party's insurance is taking care of the claim.... The car looks solid, but if you look very closely at some of the lines along the rear quarter panel you can see where the impact caused small "crinkling" in the panels......I didn't notice it until the autobody guy showed me....So, I'll be in a rental for a couple of weeks while my car is in surgery.......Since I plan on keeping it for 300,000 miles or more (currently have 80,000) I really want no expense spared, and all original new factory oem parts to be used...so far insurance has been complying.....

something to keep in mind...when I got rear ended the body shop also had to replace the noise dampeners in the trunk. you might want to ask them to check those as well.
