Choices

Depends on what you need it for.

If you don't need a 4 door then get an SLK350 for something sporty.

If you still want an E-Class then get a W211 E350. It has more power and the new style.

If you don't need as big of a car as an E-Class then get a C350. If you don't need as much horse power then just get a C230 Sport with the AMG body kit. It still has a V6 in it because the 4 cyl Kompressor engine is long gone.

A. SLK350
B. E350
C. C350
D. C230 Sport
E. None of the above

Like E-Klasse wrote, it really depends on what you are looking for. I'm adding to this: and how much you want to spend?

If you want to stay within the W210 family, I'd look at the post-facelift E320 and E430 (2000 and above). There are several controls on the steering wheel that were not available on the '99 and earlier. Plus, they look more modern because of changes in the outer body. There are also special editions of both of these from the last half of 2002 - limited color choices, but nice ones.

I just went from a '98 E430 to a '01 E320 that has almost every available option. I would rather have gone up to an '03 W211 E500 (first year) but they are still too expensive for me. I think you'll also find that the W211 E350 (first year 2005), are still pretty expensive. Both are certainly nice cars though!

I could go on and on about what is nicer than what you and I both have now. Since you have until October, keep an eye on the MBUSA.com website and check out the pre-owned section so you will have an idea what MB dealers are selling the various cars for. You can buy one wherever you want, but this is an easy way to assess the approximate market prices.

Good luck,
M

I would say if you are staying in the W210 family, there are a some good deals on 01 and 02 E55s that are loaded. I would think that just going from a 96 to an 01 would not be enough of a change to justify it unless you went all the way to the top of the line E55.
