2000 K2A phone pkg upgradable???
I am considering a 2000 E320 4Matic Wagon to replace my 98. It has the K2a package, but the phone is a TDMA version startac, and I will need the GSM (Cingular) version, which I have been told is a V60. I have also been told Mercedes cannot get a timeport that's GSM (they may never have made one). Are the phone modules the same (save the handsets) or will I have to look into upgrading the "guts" and the startac handset. Ideally I would love to simply buy a new Mercedes V60 handset and have the already-in-place phone module work.

The Mercedes branded V60 is not yet available in a GSM unit. Only TDMA and CDMA.
There is not a v60 upgrade path for a 2000 E Class at this time in any event.
Just for information, IF there was a upgrade path to be released in the future, you would need to replace more that just the handset. A new dual phone PSE, cradle, cord kit and handset would be needed.
