Question THe Limiter

hey does anyone know how to remove the limiter from the 1997 E420 ? or is there a type of restrictor on this car? jw, if so i'd like to remove those, would it affect the car in any way if i did so?

I think the only way to remove the electronic limiter is to buy a new ecu. Not sure which one but I think Brabus or one of those tuning firms has it.

Yeah - you need to get the ECU reprogrammed.

Don't forget to make sure you have the correct tires / ratings also - the E series comes with tires rated to 130mph. The reason Mercedes US 'imposed' a limiter was due to owners complaining about the short life of higher rated tires.

I’d love to know what the 420 / 430 would do without a speed restrictor …. 150 – 160mph?

The one time I kept the pedal to the floor long enough to reach the limit, it had seemed to me that it was pulling very very slowly above 120 or so. I can't imagine getting up to 150 without a very long and level street.
