E430 Problems ??
I'm about to shell some out for a 2000 E430 4Matic
but I heard mixed messages about it being problematic.
What are the common problems on it?
Or should I just go for it?

I have a 2001 E430 4matic with 71,000 miles on it. I've had what seems to be the common sensor replacements <maf,o2, BAS,etc> but have never had any problems with the suspension. I absolutely love the car, in the rain it's an absolute blast to drive. I don't regret buying mine, and you probably will not regret yours....good luck!

The 2nd generation 4Matic system in the W210 (and current models) is troublefree and adds very little complexity vis-à-vis the RWD version. Now the 1st generation 4Matic in the early 90s W124 is a different story...

I was considering a 4-matic also and heard the same story from people who owned them. The only downside I remember reading, is that some of the front end parts, like shocks/struts and engine mounts, are more expensive.
I ended up not buying that car, but I am convinced that (as lexrex stated) that the newer generation 4-matics do not have any major ($$$) maintenance issues with the engine or transmission.
