Autotrader or Cars.com for selling?
Anyone have any experience/recommendations for selling on either of these sites. Or maybe Ebay? Thanks

I recently had a somewhat popular car for a very fair price on Autotrader. I had it up there for almost 3 months. I ended up selling it straight out to a dealer for $1000 less than the lowest price (which was right around wholesale) on Autotrader. I chose Autotrader because it was online (and so is everyone else), it had pictures, was infinitely renewable and because I heard so much advertising for Autotrader on TV and radio I thought it would be the best place. It was also 1/2 the price of the newspaper.
With Ebay and Autotrader you're paying for a system that advertises nationwide. If you believe someone would travel to buy your car, then Autotrader and Ebay are good ways to go. If you believe that someone local is likely to buy it first, then just spend the extra $$$ and put it in the Newsday (or some other top paper's) classifieds. Yes, I know it costs probably TWICE as much, no picture and probably not renewable either but I find the paper MUCH more effective.
I don't have any data or stats to back this up but I bet, out of your local area, far more people who are interested will see the ad in the paper over seeing it online.
Do both for maximum coverage unless you're not in a hurry. If you're not in a hurry just use Autotrader. If you're in a hurry, just plop it in the most popular paper (that still is Newsday, right?).
