Parktronic and Comand

Hi,

Has anybody installed an aftermarket Parktronic-like system? I saw a couple of systems that seem similar, but I don't trust myself to do the installation...

I've also read that adding Comand after the fact can be cost prohibitive, but has anybody done it anyway?

I was interested in those two options, but since production of the 2002 E Class had stopped I couldn't get those options.

Thanks!

Could you point me where you did see parktronic like system. I'm interesting too and can do a separate investigation.

Hi,

If you check out www.backingsafety.com and the related site www.stratusgroupsite.com, they offer Parking-E, a product similar in functionality to the Parktronic system. Another site (www.parkingsensors.co.uk) appears to offer the same Parking-E system, but with several choices of displays. There's also www.e-iscentral.com that sells a system called Sondar.

Beyond locating these websites I haven't done much else, so let me know if you find out anything interesting!! I also contacted MBUSA's technical area to see if they have any suggestions. They helped me out on another issue so I thought I'd give them a try.

Thank you for the links. Models using adhesive tape for installation sencors look more interesting since do not require drill holes in a bumper.

f_devocht,

Thank you for the information. I looked at your site and it's very detailed, but I don't think I trust myself to do the work! Adding a Parktronic-type system seems a little less risky.

Thank you again though!
