99 E300 Turbodiesel
Night illumination malfunction
Just picked up a 99 E300 turbodiesel and was showing it off the first night to some friends. Turned the accessories on (didn't start car), showed stereo, etc. When I shut if off and locked it the lights came on as normal, but the passenger side small light next to head light and front passenger turn signal never went off. About half an hour later, I drove home. When I got out at home the lights came on then shut off 30 seconds later as normal. Worried it might happen again and drain battery. Anyone had this happen. Kind of embarrassing to have this happen the first night I was showing it off.

Congrats on your Mercedes!
On my former '98 E430, there was a headlamp setting that if used, would leave those lights on, driver's side or passenger's, if you are temporarily parked somewhere precarious so other drivers can see you more easily.
On most, if not all W210s, these switch positions are to the left (counter-clockwise) from the headlamp off position. Could you have just left the switch in the wrong position by accident the first time, but turned them off properly the second time?
Good Luck!

Duh! Thanks for the tip. I had actually just figured that out on my way home today. That is exactly what I did. I'm an Audi convert and things are just a little different. Getting to know it.

Audis are VERY Americanized for this market.

Audis are fine cars (as are their Porsche cousins), and I'd rather have one of those than a BMW or VW any day!
Cheers,
M
