seat control malfuntion

so my drivers seat is malfuntioning, the headrest has already been inoperational for some time now. although for the first time today the back support only went forward even pressing back made it go forward. so until i turned the car off and let it sit for a while, (cycling the power didn't fix it) and then a few drives later i tested it out and it is still doing the same thing.

has anyone had this problem, is there a fix?

Usually this happens because the contacts in the control are dirty.

With the ignition off (so seat does not move) excercise the control back and forth quickly for several seconds. Turn ignition back on and see if the seat moves properly.

Did this on our 99 E300 and it solved the problem. I did it for the backrest, seat height, and headrest control too.
