Cool Clear Side Markers

For a while frank at mbnz.org(now benzsport) had these clear side markers for sale that were pretty awesome, but they were limited in quantity and sold out fast.

I thought the only option was the evosport painted, which IMHO don't really look so nice.

I found these at autodynamic.com. They are clear, and snap in place in less than 2 minutes for both sides. All you need is a thin flatblade screwdriver. They may look a little white due to the pic, but they are clear beveled plastic, identical to the factory orange markers. I opted to retain the factory white bulbs, dunno how legal that is, but like the white glow at night. If you prefer the orange glow at night but clear markers in the daytime, just go to any autoparts store and pay $2 for 194NA bulbs.

Here is after the #4 and with the clear lenses.

Much cheaper? These were $39! hard to beat that. If I remember correctly, frank was charging $120.00.

Look for the post - finally, installed, amg/h&R/Bilstein....

I have 18x8 and 18x9r amg's, H&R sport springs, and Bilstein sport shocks. I love the combo. My biggest concern was that it was going to ride too roughly and jar my teeth out, but it's great. Firm, but not harsh. Granted nothing seems harsh after owning a Jeep wrangler

Scott, feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

Where does that guy get off charging ten bux to ship 2 ounces of plastic?? Sheesh!
Thats my #1 pet peeve about ebay sellers and it's getting worse and worse. To add insult to injury, the package will have the real $1.50 ship charge if it gets sent via USPS.

Now what I wanted to ask was, someone mentioned buying 194NA bulbs. Last time I had to replace a regular side-marker bulb, I searched the ends of the earth for them, and ended up at the dealer (and paid $15 for a $2 bulb, of course).
What parts store carries the right bulbs?

I looked at discount auto parts and couldn't find the 194NA's , and just used 194's. I like the white/clear look much better at night as well. I was about to start looking for the orange lamps till I tried the clear, and (i think) they look great..

194NA

CarQuest Auto Parts has them in San Antonio. Check several places. Some should have them.

I just used a flat screwdriver and carefully popped them out. You can make miniscule little scratches in the paint with the screwdriver if you're not careful, but is not a big deal.... Good luck.

Or just wrap the flathead with a rag first...no scratches.

I got mine on ebay for $25. I had to lightly file down the little tabs on the top and bottom of the lenses for them to fit like stock. I also have the 194A bulbs.

fwiw, when i ordered philips blue vision citylights (h6w), they sent free set of 'w5w' philips also, which fit my clear sidemarkers nicely and match the new city lights (still dont match my xenons, but no longer a yellowish tint).

Lightman,

My side marker lamp just went out last night and I was going to ask how to change this. Reading this thread, I assume I can use a flat blade screwdriver to pop off the old lens cover. Does anyone have the part number for the lamp bulb for a 1998 E300 TD?

i have 2000+ my , so i dont know if you can do this with a '98...

you can access the sidemarker thru a triangular hole in the wheelwell. feel around and press a plastic tab and that should pop out the cover. its in my manual , maybe yours too. you might find bulb 'type' in manual also.
good luck.

I managed to pop it out with a flat blade, just like LightMan said. I called the local NAPA dealer and they are ordering the bulbs for me. $1.49 per.

Thanks for the help.
