Buying a 2000-2002 E430... Suggestions/comments needed

After checking out prices for numerous different cars, I have decided to purchase (I think) a 2000-2002 E430. There are three existing ones within driving distance of me for around 14-15k with mileage varying from about 70-95K. Does this sound like a decent investment on my part? I have to get a car, and I believe this would be a lot of car for my money. Mnt costs will not be as bad for me as others as my father owns a European Auto shop, so all I need to do is pay for parts and we can fix things together. Anything I need to look for? Know any good deals out there? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the cars I am thinking about looking at in the next week or so:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=13
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=48 Lowest mileage (67K), higher price.
Any idea how much I should be paying for those vehicles?

year 2000 model E-320 210 chassis
Yeah the prices look very good. I paid about 2k more for E-320 but that was about a year 1/2 ago and mine had 58k. But what ever you do make sure you take it to someone for a look over before buying! And try to get the best warrenty you can just in case.

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
Thumbs up My 2000+ E430

About 2 years ago, I paid $12,900 for a '98 E430 that needed some work. The dealer (used car manager) graciously agreed to split 50/50 with me the cost of the repairs - defective sunroof, loose passenger-side mirror, and sticking center console cup holder. If I had it to do over again, I would not have put more money into that car. In your case, it sounds like you are in a very good position to buy a used Benz.

Additionally, you are looking at a post-facelift W210, which I think is a good idea. From MY 2000 on, they look much better, and have more goodies.

Good luck.
M

2002 E430 SE
I just bought my 02 E430 with 50k miles for $20k out here on the West coastd a few weeks ago. If I were you I'd try and find one with less miles and spend just a little more money. Just my .02. And living in Maryland, watch for rust! As soon as I got mine home, the brake warning light came on and all I needed to do was change the pads. It was easy (with the help of this forum!) and it didnt take but an 1/2 hour to do the fronts. So far that's the only problem I've had with the car. Good luck! But you will not be disappointed with that model!

2000 E430 sport
Got my 2000 E430 with sports pkg/tv-DVD, in each headrest, every option except htd seats (live in the south, no need!!) with 91000m for
$15000. I got lucky though, was not even looking for a MB due to baby #2 on the way, but it was too great of a deal to pass. The gentleman I bought it from had an impeccable mnt. record on it and replaced the AC / rotors / BK pads at 90k miles. I checked out all of the service records (most are paperless now) from the local MB dealer and the Indie he went to and all checked out. It has been a great car so far, but I do not live too far from work so it has been only 3k miles. The one thing I cant get over is that it actually has been getting great mileage, especially with my heavy foot! But if your dad has a shop, man go for it. Not to rub anyone the wrong way, but have you checked out a 2000-2001 BMW 740il, a little more but it has got a lot of room, little sportier in the handling. $$ on the maintanance but you got that covered by dado!!!

I own a 2001 e430 4matic that I've had for the past 2 1/2 years. The car has had some repair costs, but I couldn't be happier with the way it drives. For 14-15,000, there is no better buy out there. Get one and don't look back

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
Lightbulb Another thought

I was looking for a 2002 E430 Special Edition for awhile, but they are hard to find (not many produced I think - the last half of model year apparently).

They were somewhat limited in colors/options, but if I remember, there were a couple of nice goodies included for no extra charge on those.

MB also made SE E320s too, but after having experience with both engines, the extra 54HP and increased lower-end torque in the 430 makes a noticeable difference.

Good luck!
