Custom mods for roof antenna?
The little black rubber cover came off my roof antenna. I hate to pay 100 dollars to MB for a whole new cover if I can replace the rubber boot portion with some sort of mod cap instead. Anyone done this/have ideas. 100 bucks for a 1 inch rubber cover is really pushing it

I'm in the same exact boat. Paying even $85 (the cheapest one I have found thus far) plus shipping seems a bit excessive for such a simple part.
I have been unable to figure out a reasonably priced alternative, although some here have mentioned a $10 fix, I cannot get any details.
I suspect it is just a pipe-dream or a fantasy of sorts, because I have asked for specifics and they are not forthcoming with any details.
In an effort to fix the problem myself, I went through all of the vacuum hose covers, black tubes, shrink tubing and end caps that I can find and none fit with any degree of suitability.
I think I'll end up buying a whole new cover just to get the rubber tip.
Sadly, I think there may not be an alternative.

Been there, tried that. Unless I used something and actually glued it to the antenna, they had ZERO items that would work in my opinion.
If someone has made this repair, I would love to see what they ended up with.
Perhaps I am simply too picky, but my attempts (and I'm pretty clandestine) turned out to be only marginally better than no rubber cover at all.

I fly rc heli's so I have gobs and gobs of little rubber boots etc..
I found this thing. It's soft but thick. PERFECT FIt. It's even flanged at the base. I am sorry but I don't know where it came from. I suspect a cap for one of my heli engine exhaust outlets. Try a R/C hobby shop in your area if you want one. I pulled out the old rubber seal and pushed it into the hole thru the underside of the cap. I then sealed it with waterproof glue.
I get to keep my hundy towards an upincoming Service B
