Driver's seat material deteriorating

Someone might have used the wrong chemicals to clean the seats of this car before I bought it and it appears it may have damaged the fabric. The fabric (doubt that it could be leather) is starting to deteriorate near the front of the seat bottom to where the surface is showing flaking and the material is actually splitting. The rest of the seat is almost perfect and it doesn't show up (at least not yet) on any of the other seats.

Does any one know of any place that could do a professional looking repair/replacement of this material or is there a good source to be used for finding replacement seats?

I'm also not sure so I was hoping someone could tell me if the W210 seats are the same as any of the other models or if there is anything different in the heated/cooled seats and a standard heated seat.

Thanks for any help.

wish I could help, bud. The material is actually leather on the seating surface. There are some kits you can buy to "repair" the seat ,but dont know how well they perform. Havent used them myself yet. Till them , try using some Lexol leather conditioner on them to slow down the prosess. It may help. The only real fix ,I think, is to have the leather replaced by an upholstry shop that specializes in MB

I have heard that the leatherique.org website has been very helpful in this department- Good luck!
