one statement, one question

Last week my passanger side rear window started to slide down by itself. Took it to my indie and got it fixed for a mere $285 (cost ot me $100). Theis board has lots of news about this window disfunction, but it still seems to me that MB should not just break like this.

Question...Last night I am driving home and for no apparent reason all of a sudden the ABS and other 3 break failure lights all came on. I drove home ate dinner and went out for a drive and the failure lights were all off. My question...when the failure lights come on, does that mean the systems will not work or could it just be a senser issue but the sytems will still work?

Lights could be a brake light switch failure which is a simple fix. Yes the systems that are lit have a fault that renders them inop. As for the window, its a known issur with the plastic sheaves in the door. Have not heard any failures like this on the W211 so they did address it. Remember your car is at least 6 years old and no longer produced. Its a simple fix and not expensive. With any vehicle things are going to break and you must be prepared to fix them. Would you rather have a trans or engine failure, or perhaps a drive line failure?? Its called maintenence!!

about the ABS and the other three lights that came out, it happend to me too.
and it came out to mr the electrical motro is not giving enough power.
and about youe questio nas soon as this three light goes on, that mean the system of the ABS is not functioning by any means.
you now using a normal mechanical break system.

If the lights stay on you have a problem probably
i went to dealer after ABS and ETS lights came on but infrequently not constant
they said it was a brake switch bulb or something to that effect $10 part
check other threads about this also
but if it stays on constantly you should get it checked out

Also my backwindow fell down also after i tried to get some fresh air throughout the car and whatdoyouknow CRASH BANG BOOM down came the window. Cost about $350 dealer and $100 new tint. THANKS MB happens right after warranty expired wouldnt you know it

100 dollars to tint 1 window! but yea it does seem once the warrenty is gone with anything bad stuff happens

The window regulators fail due to a tiny plastic bit, which I'm sure MB used to save 38 cents on each build. Meanwhile they use steel rivets to hold it in place when a simple screw would have sufficed (or the aluminum rivets we use to replace them)
I can imagine some disgruntled designer in Germany chortling at the thought of thousands of people spending an hour drilling out all those steel rivets to get the broken plastic bit off.

Ever since I made the original post aobut the ABS lights etc. coming on then going off that evening, they have never come on again. If it were a break light switch or something, won't it happen every time I hit the break? Just curious. What bothers me is that I don't want the system to fail when I really need it, like in snow and rain.

I had all the lights come on one time in my car. Turning it off and back on resolved the issue for me. At the time they came on, I was going down a steep driveway and I just figured that the steep incline and wheels moving and different speeds confused the unit enough to flip out for a moment.
