E 240 Dash knobs?

Hi

It’s a dump question but as my car is Japanese specification so I never got the user manual in English. Can anyone tell me the functions of these (+ & -) knobs. The picture is attached. I understand the “R” knob is to reset the tachometer.

Well these knobs are located near the driver side (Left hand drive) AC vent and on the edge of the Dash.

The R knob or button does NOT reset the tachometer. Perhaps the trip odometer.

The last question on the above given knobs: I can know see from the main dash as when the new service is due. It also asks about the engine oil level with the ? The question is as how to say yes to that message that i want to check the engine oil level?

The moment the " Check engine oil level" comes i have tried to push the "R" knob but it is not telling about the exact oil level. may be i am doing it fast and the computer is still calculating the result.....

To check the oil level the car must be on level ground, the engine off and has been off for a few minutes. then turn the key on(but not the engine) push the button and you should see the oil level.
