Radar Detector Direct Wire Issues

I have a 99 E320 that I direct wired my Beltronics radar detector on. I used the fuse box under the hood. First time I used fuse #1 which was the cigarette lighter then I used #11 which was the radio. I used a ground direct to the body. Both times the detector is direct wired, my ignition locks me out. It will not turn the key no matter what I do. I disconnect the wire from the fuse box, key turns and car starts. Plug detector in the lighter in the car with the adapter, no issues. Now, ever since I messed with the fuse box, I'm having intermittent ignition lock out. It will take me up to a dozen tries to get the ignition to turn. It's really starting to **** me off. I can't find anything as to why it's acting up. I've wired dozens of detectors but never on a MB before. So what am I missing here?

Thanks!
