Just to let you know I bought those Polarg ® B1 Hybrid Hyper White City Light 8W back a while ago and it melted the black housing for my h6w lights.
Ever snce then I've been using the blue led type and am living with the light warning. I have leds everywhere. So thats why I'm living with the warning. After a while you get used to press that button everytime you turn on your lights

for normal housing, you would have to get these I believe. Check with someone else first before purchase though.

It could also be caused by the improper fitment of the bulb base in the housing. Yes, I said improper. Here's why:
The H6W (also known as BAX9S) bulb has 2 alignment pins on the exterior of the base, just like most of the other bulbs that use the BA9 (bayonet type) base, EXCEPT......
The H6W base rotates one of the alignment pins closer to the other, thus they are not 180° from one another (not in a straight line if you look at the bottom of the bulb).
This difference in position menas that one of the pins must be shaved off, or the bulb is forced into the socket. Either one of these methods can reduce the contact area of the solder clump on the end of the base (this is where the +12VDC goes into the lamp) or create a poor contact for the base itself (which is connected to ground).
Loose connection means increased resistance, which means build-up of heat in the socket instead of current through the bulb.
It would be possible to place the resistor in parallel with the socket, mbut it would need to be removed if you ever put a standard bulb back in.

I doubt it is the improper fitment. I also have the polarg bulbs for the stock housing and have installed them in stock headlights. The fitment is preety tight, I can't see all of that heat being generated by being maybe just a little loose. Mine were tight and didn't move at all. Although, i could be wrong.
