Anyone with W210 interest in Xenon (retro into Depo) headlight ?

I am helping one of the fellow in this forum to retro xenon package into the Depo headlight, I have purchased all the parts already (Depo headlight, and xenon projector & bulb from BMW X5, and ballast from Infinity G35, all the good part). However, the person just got into a situation that now every penny count, and he would like to cancel it.

As part of the deal, since I already bought all the part, the deposit is really not refundable, but knowing his situation now, I would prefer to return all back to him. However, I have no need to have a set of headlight sitting around (would be at my cost had I return all back to him). So I wonder if there's someone on this forum who's interesting in taking over this deal. In summary, the package include:

- Depo headlight for 96-99 model, purchased from AutoDynamic
- Infinity G35 ballast,
- BMW X5 projector (identical to RS6, but not bi-xenon), and bulb

Ballast and projectors bought from source who work at bodyshop.

The light output is much better than Mercedes OEM xenon (reflector). The BMW projector give a great purple hue when you drive at night (as seen on BMW & Audi), and there would be lot of useful light. You won't need to program car to recognize xenon, there's lamp failure message whatsoever.

If you're in SoCal, I could even arrange to have it installed & align for you (probably at no cost). This would help to save w/ the shipping & payPal fee, and minimize my lost, his lost, and your out of pocket.

In addition, I have quite a few person who contact me in the last 1/2 year, asking for help w/ retro headlight. I turned down most, due to my move, and expecting baby. Now that my boy is almost 4 months old, I have some free time again. So if you contacted me before, and got no help, pls PM me again.

It's all depend on how stiff your suspension is . But you can always put them in your car and drive around.

Thumbs up Zam's HID is grreat!

Depo Projector=$400
Ballast=200
Bulb=$200

Zam's retro-fitting HID=Priceless

One question though. I have already aimed the lights properly, but why does the driver side light seem to be blinding and scatter everywhere? Does anyboday know why? Could it be the bulb not sitting in straight inside the housing?? Any takers?

Can you park the car, facing the wall (about 20-30ft from it), and give me a beam shot on the wall. One possibility is that the high beam solenoid is not released or stuck, which is not hard to resolve. Anyway, the pix should help to diagnostic the problem.

Two pix would be good: one for low beam, one for high beam.

With your car facing the wall, the low beam cut-off light should be like this:

.........................__________________________
_____________/----------/

The high beam should look like this

........ _______.......... ______
......./............\ ____/......... \___________
___/

Ignore the (.), since I could not make it display properly without the (.) format

You can always call me (714) 743-3642, or email me pix, I should be able to help you with this. Don't need to remove headlight for any of these (bulb not sitting straight, high beam solenoid, wiring), since I made all accessible from the back.

Hope you're happy with the light output driving at night.

They're right, all aftermarket projector are junk, you really have to retro an OEM projector into it. I saw the aftermarket Depo for the C & S class, nice looking, but bad light.

Hey Zam, can you help me out?
I bought the projector headlamp retro from you before.
I currently have difficulty of getting the adjustment left and right because my mechanic screwed it up (by adjusting it for my vehicle inspection).
From the front it looks like the xenon projector is pointing left and right. Another thing is can you customize me a bi-xenon projector and how much would it be?

Yea, I remmember you. You came all the way from Singapore to pick them up. I thought you were kidding back then. I had to fabricated a shield for your projector back then, since it's RHD in your country.

I'll take picture of the aiming process tonight. PM or email me (hhbk@yahoo.com) your email address, I'll send them to you.

Thanks Zam, can't wait to install these lights when you're done. I've had horrible headlights on my '94 Corvette for 10 years and not much better on my '99 E320... this is probably the best upgrade anyone can do IMO... will post pics of before and after too

Hi Zam, do you still have the kit? If so what is the price? I'm a bit of a doufus doing things myself so I'm a bit scared to tackle it myself... I however really hate the stock output on my 97 e320, its downright dangerous every day I have to drive this back single lane road to my house, its a 40 mile drive at night with heavy oncoming traffic and I cant see absolutely nothing ahead of me...

HID lights from Zam Installed

I got in the kit from Zam with the BMW X5 projectors and Infinity G35 ballasts... everything was packed well and arrived fast. Here are some before and after pics with and without flash.

Before with flash

Before without flash

After with Flash

After without Flash

These pics were taken without aiming the HID lights and are not bi-xenon. The improvement in light output was worth the cost for me and looks much better cosmetically.

Something I did not do and just realized was that I did not replace the highbeam light from my old lights to the the new ones. I used old lights from the same location. This should make a big difference but even without doing that this is a big improvement over stock. I'll post more pics later tonight after I switch out the highbeam to the depo setup.

Also the pics with flash are a better representation of what the HIDs look like in person.

Thanks Zam, I can not recommend you highly enough! Just wish my Corvette had lighting this good.

Dan

Thanks for the nice words. From the pix, look like you just have to adjust the driver side to the left a little, and both down by a bit. Then you're set.

Haha yeah a lot of people thought I was crazy but I loved driving it until now.
Even with the W211 bi-xenon on the side, the 210 "custom light" still perform satisfactorily.
Zam, i found a RHD projector Bi-xenon finally after questing for a long time.
I wonder whether the E46 Bixenon from ZKW can be fitted to Depo Headlamp projectors? How much will it cost me this time?
