Recommendations for Drilled Rotors and Pads

Whats Happening everybody, I haven't been in here for a while but I'm getting the car bug back. I've been into Watches lately but my ride needs some new brakes this year. Gotta keep the ride in order before anything.

Anyone have any recommendations on which drilled and/or slotted rotors to buy and which ones to avoid. I know the Brembos are good and I was looking in Ebay and there's a few to choose from. Sorry if this is redundant but i need to do a Rotor and Pads change pretty soon.

If it makes any difference I'm running 19's on a 2000 W210 E320. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Go with Brembo drilled/slotted as they only can help and OE pads. That is your best idea. My Bentley tech recommends them for my X5 and E430. 30 years on the job for Mercedes/Audi and now Bentley. Sportbrakes International here in Dallas, TX. has great Brembo prices and you can buy via eBay.

for a car like this, there is no benefit to drilled rotors, aside from looks.

False. They shed water and debris rapidly. That is a benefit to anyone. If you don't want to have that benefit, drive slow!

Hmm,

Shed water huh? One the car has dust shields witch block water from hitting the rotor in the first place. Not to mention that the second the pad hits the rotor it will quickly boil off any water that was not flung off the rotor from it spinning at wheel speed.

Two, I don't know where you drive but I don't ever notice debris on my rotors, ever.

Finally drilling the rotor reduces the rotors surface area and can assist in cracking. Any gas venting benefit will not be noticeable unless he tracks the car.

For a street car, drilled and slotted rotors are just for show.

Yeah I emailed a few of them people on Ebay and the deal they're giving me is approximately $400 for 4 rotors, PBR Pads and the sensors.

Anybody ahve any good or bad experience with eTopline? Good or Bad?

This is what they sent me. Is this a fair deal. I know I have to spend some money but just asking if this is okay? Sounds good to me.

So your car is a 2000 E320 4 door Sedan, right?

We can supply cross-drilled Brembo rotors for your car, F+R are US$229.

For brake pads, we would like to recommend PBR Deluxe plus performance pads, which are made in Australia, with very low dust and noise, they also have a very good balance with high performance, so they're considered as the best choice for regular driving.

Front + rear PBR Deluxe plus pads are US$59+42=US$101, we also need to know if your E320 is with 2 PIN or 1 PIN, and the VIN #, as the rear pads may be different.

We can also supply sensors if you need. For the sensors, they are US$2.5/piece, so 2 for front and 2 for rear are US$10 (2.5x4=10).

Combined shipping cost for all 4 rotors and pads and sensors is only US$59, insurance included.

So grand total for all the rotors, pads and sensors shipped would be: 229+101+10+59=US$399. If you need, we can send you a combined Paypal invoice, from which you can click on to pay.

I think this might be the ticket.

Mark

I thought we were all in this forum because we like to upgrade our cars to the best they can be with what we have. So what if its not going to benefit the car, it still needs brakes. You put wheels on your car but how much benefit does that give it other than looks? and more tire wear? Most of us here add better stuff on our cars because we are enthusiasts, and plain and simply "because we can." I like the drilled rotors because it make my HRE's look better. I don't race. I cruise, and I drive my car and I have fun with it. Whether it has benefits or not i can care less.

Alright,
You didn't make it clear that you wanted the drilled stuff for looks. A lot of people spend tons of extra money for drilled rotors because of some perceived braking benefit on a street car.

I think they look cool too, so if you don't mind paying more for looks, then have at it.

good luck.

My drilled and slotted rotors actually decreased braking performance, fwiw. But eTopline seems like a good source.

Now when I get around to applying my red caliper paint, the performance should get back up to spec.

If you want original Brembo drilled rotors of the highest quality, and not the ebay fakes, then buy them from www.brakeworld.com. You will not be disappointed. These come drilled from the factory and not the regular brembos which are drilled later like the ones selling on Ebay.

They even have another brand called Disc Italia which are a few bucks cheaper and equally good.

They also have an even cheaper front pair called Powerdisc. How are those?

How can you tell what is fake and what isn't on Ebay?

I bought my front and rear Brembo drilled disk and Rotex pads from Brakeworld.com one year ago. But, I ended up with Brembo BBK, front and rear.

The rear diskes and pads are brand new in the box, never installed. If you are interested, please let me know.

Forgot to mention, the Rotex pads are one pin.
