What's the story with this flat key? Do you have a part# or a way for people to ask the dealer about getting one? i.e. will they know what I mean if I ask them for a 'flat key'?

i have a flat key with my 99 E320. passive IR design, about 4mm overall
thickness with metal key riding tandam inside the plastic body. if i come
across p/n, i'll post but dont see one now.

 

Finally receive a email from jamie 2day she claim that the key should be on its way..........
Now waiting for the key to arrive.

and it worked perfectly the very first try without ANY problems at all.

It should arrive with 4-5 different colored plastic pieces. Pick the one you like the best and snap it into the part that slides open to release the metal key.

I can only imagine why the parts are all different colors.
BTW, i like the fact that once you remove the metal key from the housing, a small ring pops out to allow the valet or the mechanic to attach a tag to the thing.
I'm shocked tha with all of the technology that went into these keys, that the darned trunk button is on the top of the center console next to the shifter instead of inside the glovebox where it could be locked up.

I mean, why bother to lock the GB and leave the stuff in your trunk vulnerable to theft?

Be patience urs could be here anytime , i was quite surprise when i receive a call from FED EX saying i got a mail. Yes the key work 100% fine its as good if not better than my orginal key.

P/S:Maybe because i sent them a few email to ask about my key so they sent it to me abit faster

Hi Guys
Today i got my key along with the blade one. It took 7 working days to reach my destination. This time frame includes the correspondence and the final delivery of the key.
Well it works very fine. As guided in this forum the key should not be used as a remote in the begging. The car should be unlocked by the previous remote key. Let the new key be in the ignition for about 3 seconds and then start the engine. It will automatically get programmed with the car computer.

All the windows / centeral locking etc are working with the new key.
The total charges along with the shipment were the same as are being discussed in this tread.

The pictures taken from my Nokia are not that very clear....

DAMN! I am sure glad that I got mine before then! That dude Jamie is slow...I put my order in January 27th (weekend), had it processed the 29th, faxed the information later that day around 2:30PM, and they FINALLY shipped off the key and blade to me on the 6th of February! It should be coming in tomorrow via FedEx! Man, again, am I glad that I ordered my extra one early...I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT TWO!
