Thumbs up cigarette lighter problems...

so my cigarette lighter stoped working. i checked the number 1 fuse under the hood and it was blown. replaced with a new one and now the switch is still not working....the light in the ashtray / ring around the hole still work too....

umm i guess never mind i took apart the console and unpluged and repluged the socket and now it works...wtf

i had the same problem...checked my fuses...even went to MB and had them check my fuses...everything was fine...i took it to my mechanic and he said it had become loose...odd problem

kinda shows how mercedes quaility of going bad...little stuff like that bother me alot...i had a dead cell phone for like 5 months

My E430 rocket....Is it hard to take apart the console to check the wires.? I'm having same problem, would you be able to tell me how best to remove?

It's really easy to remove the console.

1. Open the cup holder.
2. Pull upwards (on both ends of the back Left and Right) the wood panel under the shifter. It pops right put.
3. Remove the ashtray's removable tray.
4. Remove the two screws holding the ashtray down.
5. Remove the console above the ashtray by putting ur hand behind it and u will feel a clip on top, press down and pull forward.

Now you will have enough space to mess around.

yep thats all there was to remove the console. although i have no idea how i fixed the cigar lighter but i'm happy. lol
