Compared to the W124...

I have a '95 E320 and love the tank-like, well built feeling of this car. How does this car compare to a newer E320? Do they drive somewhat the same or is the '96 and later a completely different car?

I just went from W124 to W210 and the most amazing thing is how much better the road handling (cornering) is. The tank-like feeling is gone but the well-built feeling is still there!

The reason I ask is because when it comes time to replace my '95 I'm wondering if the W210 will be as desirable of a car. I'm OK with it feeling not as much like a tank but I love the engineering genius of the W124 and I hope it's still present in the W210.

The W124 is among MB's best over-engineered cars. Although the W210 has the updated features, it is not as rock solid at the previous generation model.

W210 E320
I used to own both W124 (in 2dr guise) and W210 and lemme tell you that despite the W210 being lighter and less tank-like it's still an excellent sedan when compared to the W211 and the W203s. And the car still feels solid as well. So you wont be loosing alot when transitioning between the two

The W 124 is a rock solid modell in all aspects. Here in Portugal we have tons of W 124 diesel taxi and many of then have passed the barrier of 1 milion miles (yes, i'm not wrong... 1 MILLION MILES) with the same engine and only the basic maintenance service.

The W 210 can't do that but it's a better car than the 124 in everything, except durability. I have one and so far it has been a very nice car.
