Driver's Window going out
My '00 E320 is having an issue with the driver's (Front Left) window. It goes down just fine, but when it is going up, it is seems to go up very slowly, and sometimes it will actually stop and drop an inch as if it is hitting something.
It has been going on for a while, but now it is to the point where it sometimes requires me to help the window up by pulling on it with my hands.
My question is, what would you think is going out? Would it be the regulator or the motor? I'm not sure how the front windows are designed, if it is with a cable or some other method, but want to make sure I hunt for the right parts.
Thanks

I would suggest spraying some silicone spray into the window tracks at the front and rear and see how that does. Other than that, I have seen the window motors go out once in a while, but that part where the window bounces back down usually means the tracks need to be lubricated or something is binding or the motor is going out..

window problem
Hi there
I also had this problem on my 98 e300td
the windows are not used much so the front hinge on the mechanism that holds the glass started to seize. the only cure is to oil them. I also notice that in extreme cases the bar that the hinge is located on will deform causing the front of the glass to drop slightly and the pillar side develop a gap.
Although it is possible that the felt at the front of the door could be obstructing the passage of the glass - just push back into place.
hope that helps.

Thought I'd do a quick follow-up. I removed the door panel (lot easier than I thought it would be) and sprayed silicon all over the rails and joints. Window doesn't perform quite as fast at the passenger window does, but it is a huge improvement from what it was doing before. It is faster going up and does not show to have the hesitation as it used to.
Thanks again for the suggestions - this worked like a charm.
