1-800-MERCEDES - battery replacement will avg $150

Autozone - group 49 battery seems to be popular with BMW and MB owners
as well, at $70. same physical size, post locations, vent, and cranking amps.
Interstate battery also popular with others.

No onboard testing from your car. Requires several tests, including under load,
static, as well as hydrometer. Check battery fluid level (careful, sulpheric acid).
Extremely easy to test battery health and should cost zero - $10 and last more
more than 10-15 mins.

Thanks Ray,,looked at Sears Diehard,,805 CCA,,Interstate 850CCA,,$115.00 for Interstate,,,going to give Interstate a try.I guess 5 yrs is about right for a battery.Lasted longer than the OEM alternator(thank the BIG Guy it was under warranty)
Any particular things I have to do after changing it to resume nrml operation???Thanks again.

After battery start, i'm not sure with your model year, but better than even
chance that you'll need to reset mirror memory, seats, windows, locks, roof,
radio (have code on hand). i forget what this does right now, but you turn
the steering wheel lock-to-lock (feel free to jump in, someone).

Other models have had to reset SRS, ASR etc type trouble codes so you may
want to check stickies on the other forums. With my 99, I only had to reset
radio, locks and roof. Contrast this with W203 and you'll see more, so be aware.
