Mirror Glass Replacement - leaky mirror
My driver's side mirror turned brown and slightly blurry a while back. At first I thought my mirror had grabbed a few beers and sneaked out of the garage to hit the nearest the tanning bed.
In the last few days, the brown -- presumably the electrochromatic auto-tinting junk -- has been receeding.
I figured out today that the brown stuff is fluid. It's leaking out of my mirror and etching my paint. Not good.
So I need to replace my mirror glass. Anyone know the cheapest place to get a replacement? AutoHausAZ sells it for $203.

Hi Same thing just happened to me my 97 e320, It's the anti foggin stuff. Plus my motor was bad So i bought a set of 00+ mirror with blinkers off ebay from a local guy. I installed it and everything works accept for he blinkers hich I haven't had time to route or find the right cables

How difficult is it replace the mirror glass (motor seems fine) yourself or do you have to do the whole thing? I have same thing on my '01 wagon but it is not really a problem.

FOr a 00+To replace mirror glass is really easy. Just push your mirror towards the back and with a flat screwdriver push this metal clip and push the cover towards the back after you push clip down. Should just slide out. and the mirror is held in by a metal clip too. No screws to take out
For a 97 you need to push mirror towards the back of car and undo the clip with a flat screwdriver. undo both sides of the clip you'll know what i'm talking about when you look at the clip.

Leaky Mirror
The same thing occured on my E320.
The whole mirror became very blury and had to be replaced.
Make sure your replacement is the correct one for your model. Avantgarde has a different tint to elegance.
