Looking for ceramic brakes for 2000 E320

Hi all

Does anyone own the set of Akebono ceramic brakes that tirerack has for sale. If so can i just purchase them and have my mechanic install them? Do i need any other parts?
Or anyone use AXXIS plus? Read somewhere that in rainy weather very unresponsive.
Also saw the PEP BOYS ceramic brakes but have not read if these were good or bad anywhere.
Please advise me because i am installing my new chrome rims this weekend and hope to find ceramic brakes to keep dust off.
I just got the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-DS tires from tirerack for $156 each (should have got them last week only $149).
Please POST where i can purchase your choice of BRAKES.

Thanks all
ROB

Actually ceramic pads show less dust than regular pads. See for example: http://www.tirerack.com/brakestechpage-1/88.shtml

You might be thinking of non-ceramic high performance pads, such as the Hawk HPS, which do generate more dust.

Ironically I just had the Hawk HPS pads installed in my daughter's car today. I went with Hawks over Akebonos because I wanted maximum stopping power and didn't care about brake dust. They're fabulous. I'm sure the Akebonos would have been a significant improvement, too.

It really is just as easy as buying them and having your trusted local shop install them. Nothing else required provided the rest of your braking system is in good condition.

Good luck!

I put ceramic pads on my car and I can vouch for the "way less dust than OEM brake pads" statement.

i love my akebono pads. got em from tirerack along with brembos rotors.

i have yet had the need to slam on my brakes. they have plenty of stopping power without the need to slam on the brakes. i will continue to use this setup for as long as i own the car.
