Leaking antifreeze into engine, m112 1999 E320
This is my problem, my 1999 E320 with 108,500 miles is leaking antifreeze into the engine I think. Can anyone tell what to look for? Maybe head gaskets or intake manifold gasket? I do not have any oil coming back into the radiator, nor do I have rust on the oil dipstick. But I am getting some "milkshake" on the oil filler cap. Engine runs super!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!

do you drive you car at short distances every day at low speeds? get the car in the highway, drive it there for a little bit, and then check it again. could be nothing.

Hi. I realize this is an old post. The last year it has been slowing losing coolant without obvious leak. Have the milkshake coating on the cap. Oil analysis confirms that coolant is leaking into oil based on electrolyte levels. I wonder if anyone has ideas on how the coolant gets into the oil. Hoping it's not a blown head gasket. Have seen a youtube video of someone's m112 leaking into oil pan from timing cover gasket. Any other possible culprits? Have a 99 e320 4matic wagon with 118k.

Hi. Not sure if I understood your reply; but thank you. If I read the previous thread correctly, it suggested a leakdown test. In speaking with my Indy, we didn't think a leakdown test would pinpoint head gasket vs timing cover or other internal leaks. Compression test of each cylinder might, but the engine runs perfectly without smoke so it seemed unlikely at this point. I've found almost no information in the forums about the timing case/cover as a potential leak-- wondering if anyone knows how specifically to test that area.

I assume you have a free subscription to MB's EPC---that's where I would look to understand and answer your question---- "I've found almost no information in the forums about the timing case/cover as a potential leak"--
Nowhere in your posts have you indicated suspected volumes of coolant loss and or frequency of coolant additions---are we talking about cc's or liters of loss??
