Transmission problem?
I have a e320 with 79,000 miles. I recently took the car to the dealership to have the transmission fluid changed. After they changed the transmission fluid I also had the engine and transmission mounts changed. The car idles smooth as new but now the car shifts very ruff. At times it seems like the gears are slipping or the car doesnt know how to mix the gas and clutch. I also noticed that when I have the car in Drive and let go of the gas pedal the car will move but slightly give a jerking motion. Anyone have a suggestion as to what the problem could be? I really hope the transmission is not going on this car.
BTW : I have no check engine lights.

3 things it could be...
1. It could be a vacuum line going from the side of the transmission to the motor. This vacuum line senses when you slam the throttle to the ground (there is a button behind the gas peddal). Sometimes this vacuum line is broken or disconnected due to a lousy mechanic or just plain old crappy German plastic )the line itself is a whiteish plastic).
2. Since you said you replaced the motor mounts, this may also be the flange between the back of the tranny and the driveshaft. Jack up the car, put the auto in neutral and twist the driveshaft with your hand. If there is any play whatsoever, the rubber flange will need replacing.
3. Has the tranny fluid filter also been replaced everytime the fluid is replaced. This involves removing the bottom pan on the tranny and removing two small screws to replace the filter. The filter may be clogged.

Your car is a 98, so I think you have the 722.6 transmission. Dollars to donuts the problem is due to incorrect fluid level. On this tranny, the fluid needs to be up at the "max" mark after getting it up to 80C.

Same issue with my 2000 E320, only happens sometimes. Usually happens when I just start it up in the morning and i pull out of my street start going and let go of the gas, it then jerks back. It also shifts rough at times and I've also come into another problem when i really give it some gas it won't shift into 2nd. I have to pull over and shut the car off. I'm hoping that is a sensor.

Im assuming the filter was changed since i brought it to the dealer to have it serviced. The reciept indicates it has been. Any idea on where this vacume is. I think I should bring back to the dealer, only problem is that I had the car sitting for a while and took it on a couple long trips so Im not sure if they will honor the warantee on the job.
