Single CD player w/ Navigation
For those of you that have the single CD player with the navigation, does yours have a problem with ejecting cd's? My cd's always get jammed in there and alot of the time they say reading error. I'm also having a problem with all my cd's sounding scratchy. Brand new cd's are sounding like old scrathed ones. I can't understand why. Any help?

hey c-
I had this problem but maybe not as badly as you, when i had my e430 w/ nav. sometimes the cd player popped out the cd after trying to load it several times. I found that if i used a simple cleaning cd to brush the laser lens every once in a while the problem seemed to go away...could be dust gets in there pretty easily for whatever reason, design maybe?

Does the COMAND ever have trouble with your NAV CDs? If so, I'd say you definitely need to clean it somehow. If only audio CDs present a problem, maybe it is something else, but nevertheless, it won't hurt anything to clean the lens.
The only problems I have ever had with my COMAND and associated functions was when I had a CD changer installed and it was not properly integrated with the D2B system loop.

The navigation never has trouble, So it deffinately needs a cleaning. Why i never thought of that is beyond me? I guess I'm so used to these problems being so major I never think its something small!

My E430 had the same problem about two years ago. The cd would not eject. I had to reach in with a finger and push it in and down a few times to get it to release. The dealer replaced the entire COMAND system to fix it. Now the replacement unit is acting the same way, and it is out of warranty. If there is an easy fix for this I'd like to know what it is, but it appears to be mechanical, not electrical.

CD cleaner has done nothing to help this problem, the dealer tells me that this unit doen't take well to burned cd's. So apparently thats what causes the problem.

Similar problem
I heard my single CD unit trying to load. I thought it was weird so I decided I would send a CD in it. Well it sucked in the CD and didn't even read it. Now I can't eject it. Is there a manual ejection procedure or a way to trick the system?
