New abs system.

Alright, i go to the dealer pick up a stop lamp switch. No biggie. I install it, no biggie. The turn on the car, same problems. Turn the car back around :: symptoms, ABS, ETS, Skid control, and no brake lights. So I head back to the stealership and find out I need a new abs system. Price, 1800. Anyone eles ever have this problem. Also, where can i get a abs system. Am i better of buying a wrecked E320 and takeing it out? The current lights on the dash are. ETS ABS, SRS, ACC Skid Control. Any thoughts?

Ya you tommy, on that thread I6 vrs V6 some dont get it
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w210/192817-inline-6-v6.html

Sorry to hear about your problem, my first though is a battery or alternator going bad, that will give all those warnings. I think the threshold is 10.5 volts. I would be checking out everything from the battery out. The brake lights may be shorted, do you have any fuses blown? Man that is all I can think of now check out your electrical system first. never heard of ABS going bad how do the brakes feel, did you try to see if the ABS works even though the light is on. I would try a panic stop and see.

Yeah, i tried nada. I guess its good to be a saver. But I to have never heard of a mercedes abs system failing, so i'll check the fuses, the the battery, the alternator. The more i think about it, the fishier it seems.

The "no brake lights" symptom makes me wonder. Does that have anything to do with the ABS? It sounds like it points to an open circuit.
Did you extend the white part fully on the new brakelight switch?

well, the story thickens tonight, i went to see spiderman and after we went to my friends place. he has a mercedes obd2 hookup computer, we do a test on the car, nada. no codes, zip zero nada. everything works, i put the car in D, everything comes back. apparently, its a loose connection somewhere, but mercedes tried sticking a rubber fist up my ***, tried to rip me off for 1800+ labor. So on tuesday i'll have a print out of whats wrong, i'll post it up here then i'll think about going after my dealer with a lawsuit. I mean 20min to fix vs 1800+labor. this is insanity.

Grow up. Seriously. They quoted you $1800 to fix the problem, and you declined. Had they charged you $1800 and not fixed the problem, maybe you'd have a case. High prices are not grounds for a lawsuit. Just take your car somewhere else in the future.

By the way, are you still getting 8-10 MPG? It occurred to me that if you had O2 sensors on their way out, it would make the air/fuel mixture rich. You'd get worse gas mileage and more power.

Sue your dealer? Ahh no, you have no grounds. If it is a loose connection, you are fortunate. If not, stop beating on your car, trying to "drift", etc...

hence why my car has not been taken to the actual dealership for the past 7 years. My car is taken to a mercedes independent shop.

i just noticed, well 3 days ago. also, when hooked up to a obd2 reader today, we found out it was indeed the abs system, but it was a 300 dollar part, not a 1800 dollar part.

2002 E320 4matic 92K (bought 12/20/06). 2000 E430 4matic (RIP 12/9/06) :(
if abs lights are going on when you put the car in DRIVE and not reverse, it probably is a loose connection. in my experience- 2 e-classes with that same "stop light" issue which turns on the abs/esp/bas lights - it's when the car is shifted into reverse that you should see the lights. good luck, let us know how it turns out!

ah, or when you touch the brake...that ties into the brake light issue hopefully (much cheaper fix than an entirely new ABS system!)
