Has anyone yet to find a fix for the SRS light??

I still need to replace or find a way to bypass the passenger seat switch for the SRS system light to go off. Has anyone been successful in bypassing this, or has anyone removed the seat cover themselves and replaced the sensor and could help out with some tips and or pics?

The light is telling you something.

It's telling you that when you have an accident with a passenger in that seat, the airbag may not function and/or the seatbelt may not tension.

One would think "bypassing" this a bit wrong. Certainly more incovenient for your passenger than your having to look at a light.

It should be a pretty simple fix if you understand upholstery.

You'll need outside torx socket to remove the seat from the car.

Well actually the "bypass" was to make the computer think that someone is sitting in the seat, there-by eliminating the need to buy the $300 sensor and try and do it yourself as the dealer wanted $800 with parts and labor, which is frikken insane.

Perfect. I suggest we get together one weekend and resolve this together, as I have the same problem. A friend overseas driving a W210 fixed this himself, and he gave me a run-through last time I saw him, so I have a general idea of how to do it. I also have torx wrenches.
I don't see a way to resolve it aside from biting the bullet and buying the part, but at least we can save the labor.
Let me know what you think.

If you do it, please take pictures and document what did and did not help. I'm sure many here would appriciate it.

Also, I would be interested in how simple (once removing the covers) it would be to simply splice in a cable to the connections, as it seems to be a cable that breaks and looses connection over time as oppossed to the sensor itself going bad (at least that seems to be the theory I've read).
