Check Engine Electronics

Check Engine Electronics
I started the engine this morning and got this message : "Check Engine Electronics " I looked it up in the manual and it says contact a mb dealer. did any body get this warning before ? any ideas of what can it be ?

I got it yesterday. The dealer made an appointment to come in for a look. He said it was most likely the Oxygen sensor. But I have to wait 2 weeks for the appointment. I have less than 48k miles, and already the sensors blew??

about 168 items can cause that light to come on ,,,a big vaccuum leak,i:e gas cap loose or a sensor failure
unfortunatly a common thing to happen ,,ck engine light coming on

Hmmmmm, I've never had a check engine light come on. I've had plenty of "lamp messages" show up.
o2 sensors don't last that long, kind of like the durability of an airfilter. The sensor doesn't blow up, it get's covered with unburnt exhuast deposits, etc. I would be a little unconfortable about a perscription without a diagnosis.

Thanks guys, I filled up the tank with 94 octane and after driving for a couple of days the "check engine electronics" message went away could have been the gas or they didn't tighten the cap last time I got gas , cross my fingers and hope it won't come up again.

This happened to me about 5 months ago and according to the local Benz dealership I had to replace the mass airflow sensor ---$850!! However mad I was at the time, the car runs good now. I have a 98 e320 with 77000 miles if this helps. I know that there could be many things wrong if that light comes on and I was relying on the dealership not to screw me and I really don't know if they did. Every time I take my car there they try to get me to replace a bunch of equipment in order for me to shell out $2000 every time I take it there.
