Removing Viscous Fan on 98 E430

Am replacing the belt tensioner on my 98 E430. Everything looks straightforward except that I can't figure out how to remove the viscous fan!

There is some type of spring clip on the front of the fan hub, I can get some movement but am hesitant to pry until I know how it works.

Anyone familiar with this clip?

One Will Need the Large open wrench to release the fan clutch...The threads are backwards...So If you want to remove it..go clockwise

The Metal strip on the clutch fan is to lock the clutch fan...when the fan assy gets hot...Do NOT PRY the metal strip off..Otherwise you WILL Need a New Clutch fan assy
