The other window regulator just failed!
This is really just an angry-at-myself rant, but I JUST replaced the drivers' side regulator a couple of weeks ago. I should have just ordered BOTH sides then, because guess what? The other one just dropped the window to the bottom of the door before the holiday weekend and I had to jam a friggin' stick inside the door to hold the glass up for my wife while I am out of town.
This car had better stop falling apart like a leper or I'm going to trade it in for a Toyota!

Dan, I know what you mean! I have had many little issues with my E420 that have caused me to think about just settin the damn thing on fire once and for all. There are so many littlle nit picky nuances with these cars that they can and do test your last nerve at times..............
Then, after you have just fixed one of those little repair jobs that has set your hair on fire with rage, you take it out for a drive. As you slip into the seat you sense and smell the classic design of the MB interior. You enjoy the clear crisp sound of the Bose stereo as it surrounds you in stereophonic sound. You feel the precision and tighness that the car offers as you drive her over the road. You look over the hood and see those classic W210 headlight forms around the fenders and the MB Silver Star sticking proudly up in the air as if to say, "Hey, I'm a Mercedes-Benz!"......................................
Then..............the engine light comes back on, or the lamp sensor as you step on the brake to slow down, or as you turn the radio knob down to hear what that popping sound was in the door panel as you rolled the window down to let the wind blow thru your hair the stereo goes up full blast.........
Ah yes, I just love my E420............................
(Now, where did I put those matches!! )

Window regulator
I have a 99 E320 Wagon with a broken window regulator, right rear door. I don't know how to remove the door panel to get in to the hardware. Is it "popoff" or "lift up", or otherwise? I did my 84 300TD wagon, but this one is different.

one of the previous posts on this contained a link to an online video of door panel removal. There are no real 'gotchas' with it, but you do need to be mindful of a few electrical connectors and the clips that hold the top of the panel next to the glass can be troublesome. It should only take about 10 minutes to do if you watch the video and gather the tools beforehand.
