Standing Light Issue
Standing Light Issue
I have a 1997 E320. My right standing light is out. The bulb is good (I've switched it with the left one to be sure). No fuses are bad. However, in checking the power with a meter, I find that the wire feeding it is only providing .002 volts. The left side (which functions) provides 12.50 volts. The readings are the same at the "plug" into which the cluster of wires attach. Why does my right side not receive voltage? Is there a good place to look? It's been suggested that the wiring harnass is bad - if so, is this changable, and where to I get one? Or is there an easier resolution?
I've heard (i.e. read) that the wiring harnesses in these tends to melt/go bad. Don't know what to do for that since I assume that replacing a wireharness for all that isn't too easy.
I do have the same type of problem with my light to the vanity mirror on my passanger side.
The drivers side works, but not the passenger. I just got some of those LED festoons that take less power to light, so my hypothysis is to see if the lower voltage (I checked that too) will work on a festoon which requires less to light up.
Good luck man
...I guess you could try hooking up the harness to another tail light to see if the problem is in the tail light...I just swapped mine out for tinted ones, live in Seattle?
