Phone Removal in Wagon?
Hi,
I just got my '00 wagon, which has most of an analog(?) cell phone system in it except for the handpiece. Either way, I'll never use it and I want it OUT. It makes that annoying old skool Motorola "Blurrrp!" every time I start the car.
I found several phone components under the driver's side rear seat. Anyone have any caveats before I start ripping isht out? Obviously, I don't want to disturb any other systems.
Bonus question: anyone know where to find a water tight body color or black plug to fill in were the rear roof antenna goes? Or is that for the FM radio...d'oh!

Not Sure what you found under the rear seat ....But the MB Phone PSE is Installed at the REAR of the Wagon behind the side carpet cover (Pasenger side) Near the CD Changer if Installed...
The Roof Antenna is used for several things..tel aid...NAV...

The annoying beep in the y2k cars comes from the teleaid system. This beep was only on some of the early y2k cars. Evidently there were so many complaints that the system was modified to eliminate the sound. There are 2 speakers in the corners of the dash connected to this system. There seems to be no way to reprogram the system but the dealer's mechanic said you can disconnect one of them and add some resistors to the other to reduce the volume. I have performed this modification and the beep is now tolerable.
