ECU Chips?

Any good companies out there that offer ECU chips for a 2001 E430? It might be nice to get a few extra horses out of my mom's car.

I have a CLK430, and have found no decent software for the naturally aspirated Mercedes. If you're looking for a few HP, our underdrive pulleys will add 13HP (DYNO PROVEN) at the rear wheels for only $499.

The Pullies would be a Better Buy for the Money!
I Have Them on my w210 wagon and yes the Pullies do work!
You Will get more horsepower from the pullies than a software mod (on a N/A Engine)

any other options?

Sorry for being new to this but what are the pulleys?

Also what other readily available choices are there for adding some power short of adding Kleeman supercharger which is like 14K right?
Choices I heard of:
K&N filters. How much real gain? Price?
Exhaust? what type and how much gain? Price?
what else?
would it be possible to push e430 past 300 horses without modifying the engine (no modified camshafts etc) and within $1000?

thanks for the enligthment

will pullies also work on a 97 E420?

Hi,

Does anyone have experiences with installing pullies on a 97 E420? How much hp gain and where can I buy them? about how much labor charge to install?

Thanks

Ed

I am also interested in the costs associated with installation, etc of the underpulley. I have a 1998 E430 Sport. Do you have any test results for the E430?

I'm sure the pulleys help, but it'd be nice to get around the speed governor as well...thanks for the tip.

Upsolute makes a tuning chip that boosts the E430's horsepower from 279 to 303, and torque from 295 ft/lbs to 312 ft/lbs. A lot of folks put these on their tdi volkswagens and absolutely love them. Wetterauer's chip boosts the 430 to 300 hp and 310 ft/lbs. of torque. I have a wetterauer chip on my turbodiesel VW, and it made a huge difference, more than noticeable. I've had K&N filters in multiple cars,K&N intakes, and cat-back exhaust systems, and nothing's made as big of a difference as the chip. I sent my ecu off next day air, they chip and send it back next day air the day they receive it.

www.chip-tuning.com - wetterauer. Email kelly kay if you have a specific question. I have a wett chip in my tdi and got great service from them. They require you to send off your ecu to them, and they do it the day they get it and next day air it back to you, unless you drive up to visit them in Indiana.

www.upsolute.com has sales reps all over the country, who you can drive to meet and have your car chipped.

Perfect. I know guys who used Upsolute chips in their VW Passats (I have a GIAC chip in mine), and they're very happy with them. I just gotta find a local Upsolute rep...

Anyone know where/how to remove the ECU? I know how to do it on my Passat, but have never tried on my mom's car...

Upsolute rocks!

I upsoluted my 2002 E430 and dropped my 0-60 ET from 6.8 to 6.1 avg.
My combined city/highway mpg went up from 18 to around 20.5. The Upsolute rep for our area is John Achilles. Go to upsolute.com and find his contact info in the dealer page.

I recommend it.

Isn't e430's 0-60 in around 6.0-6.1 sec stock? Or is ET including anything else in it?

My before and after numbers were taken with a G-tech Pro; and about 6-8 runs each, conditions about the same...84 deg. 65% humidity, 1/2 tank of 93 Sunoco, etc., and within 2 week period. I checked my times against R&T numbers and as I recall, the stock ETwas 6.7

Anyway, seat of the pants dyno tells me it's the best bang for the $. It feels like the car's in "4" all the time I'm in "D"

The up chip may be cheaper, but in my experience and after reading numerous posts of turbo failures, clutch slipping, and other problems associated with upsolute, I went with the wett chip. Its widely thought on the tdiclub forum that the wetterauer chip's programming is much more sophisticated and friendly to your engine, with the up being more of a raw unsophisticated gain. The up chips are a bit peaky on tdi's, and the wetts are smooth thru the powerband. The dyno results show both chips within 2 or 3 hp, with up usually having the advantage..

I did hear that about problems with TDI UP chipping. I haven't had a problem with my MB. Perhaps the MB mapping is a little more "refined".
