leather conditioning report

I took it upon myself to clean and condition the leather in my e430. I don't know if it ever was cleaned and conditioned before since I have a car for only a month and a half. I tried ZYMOL cleaner and conditioner (about 7.99 each) The seats were already very clean and in excellent shape regardless of the car being a 98 model however the leather seemed a little tough. The interior is in charcoal color. I wanted to eventually use Leatheriqe products but I decided to wait. The weather was kind of cool for such projects since the conditioner works best when leather is warmed up. I blasted the heater and heated the seats and while sweating cleaned and then the rubbed in the conditioner in the seats.
After the process the seats got a beatiful luster and seemed a little softer although I believe it would be much better if the seats got really warm before the process. Next summer they will get a full leatheriqe treatment, but for now this is not bad.

6.3,

Please let me know if the seats seem a little softer after a couple of days. I have an 02' E430, and like you said, the seats are hard. I spent a couple of hours applying the MB/Mequires stuff, and was really disappointed with it. So, if you've found something good perhaps I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks!

What does the Leatherique treatment do that the Zymol doesn't? I have to admit being too lax about taking care of the seats, but I want to change my ways.

After 2 days the seats feel better (less dry and a little softer) but not a dramatic change. They do not feel so dry to the touch like before. The charcoal color is now more deep and shiny. I actually did not do the headrests yet to see the change. I feel that if you take your time and repply it over a span of 2 days in a warm enviroment you could have best results. It is like 45 degrees in NY today.

I have never used leatheriqe but on my other classic benz mailing lists there a people that love their products. It is a lot of work I heard to do it right and you need to be patient but the results are great. check their website. Leatherique products claim to be the best for lether restoration and I have not heard any complaints from people who used it.
