Angry Windshields

I had a bolt hit my windshield A month and a half ago went through the whole Insurance thing i ended up covering it all so i called to have a guy come replace it. That was today when i got home i washed the car took it for a spin and noticed dripping on the passenger A piller. It was the side the crack was on. The crack ran from 100mm off the bottom to the top. I did not go with oem glass. Do you guys think it was a poor instal or cheap install?

Could be however, I know that it takes two full days for the glue to cure. You should not allow the car to get wet until the glue drys. Washing it was a bad idea. Also, leave your window cracked for two days due the heat build up inside causing pressure on the inside of the glass from the expanding air.

Carglass told me the goop/compound they use today has evolved to the point that currently about an hour after glueing in the new window you can drive your car though a carwash! I'm sure you guys in the USA aren't behind on Europe so if it leaks now it'll keep leaking. The glue did not get evenly spread or an air bubble got trapped. I fear they have to redo that windshield...

definitely a botched install job. german cars take special rubber moldings, and he must've used cheap chinese POS parts. call him and have it do it again for free

When the guy put it in the only thing he told me was to let it sit for 2 hours. It was 3.5 hours by the time I got off work then an hour to get home. I more or less sprayed the car down with water to get the dust off so it was not like I was using highpressure on the windshield. Their is also an exposed glass on the top edge where its leaking i seen the next day. I told the guy what I had done and what I was seen he said it most likely slid down on one side, 100 degree Atlanta heat. He said he was going to bring a new one sat. and put it in. Bad luck I guess.

Well the guy replaced the glass this time he said wait 3 days to wash it. The glass looks 5/8" higher than before. That week when he did the first one the paint on my car read 190F with a temp gun. This time it was done in my garage. Looks good for now won't know if it leakis for 1 more day.

Same guy went from 3 hours to three days? Don't forget to leave a small portion of one of your windows down. Use one of the fronts ones, the rears might break.
