Multifunction Steering Wheel

I have a '99 E-class, and while it's been in for service, I've been driving a 2002 E320 loaner. I like the convenience of the multifunction steering wheel with the volume control etc..

Has anyone installed the multifunction steering wheel on their '96-'99 E-class?

My 01 E320 has the multifunction wheel. Its the only thing on the car I do not care for. I am allways inadvertantly changing something with my thumb hitting one of the buttons.

That's gonna be a hard and expensive mod for 96-99 models imagine you have to replace the wheel/airbag/instrument cluster /radio plu you need to put a CAN bus which i think is impossible.

N/A
i don't think it's possible because more than 1800 components were changed after the 2000 facelift...
