97 IR Key Problem - Intermittent
The IR remote will just stop working, with no clear cause. the only common factor is....it only happens when the doors are LOCKED. It's mostly an inconvenience, as I can put the key in the trunk or passenger door lock, turn it either direction, and the IR remote starts working again.
The only thing I can come up with is that some sensor isn't getting the needed signal from the locking system indicating that the "lock" cycle is complete. It's VERY sporadic. sometimes, it'll happen five times in one day. Sometimes, it won't happen at all for a couple of weeks.
Ideas?

Batteries are new
I don't believe it's the remote. The batteries are new. Plus, it starts working again after turning the key in one of the locks (without pressing the button). Other ideas?

MBWorld Fanatic!
so i'm seeing you describe that once mechanical intervention occurs, the remote
seems to work....for a spell. if that's the case, I'd pull the door panel and give
a thorough exam and cleaning of the linkage and check the pneumatic system
(hose, T-fittings, etc). might the linkages need lubrication? sludge build up?
dog hair? teutonic phlegm?

I believe you're likely correct on the assumption that it's something i m the hydraulic system. I'm going to look at the schematics and see if I can find what action causes the computer to know that the "lock" cycle is complete. thanks!

Ir problem
I have just found that if I use the lock swith on the dash I have to use the key to lock and unlock the door and then the IR works again
Weird but this has happened before and I just figured out what I was doing differently to cause this problem
