Window Regulator question...again

This forum has been enormously helpful. I have read a number of postings on this topic and have taken the door panel off of RR door. It seems fairly straight forward and I am ready to tackle it.

But.....while I am waiting for the part to arrive I have a question:

Seems like the consensus for step #1 is to tape the glass in the up position.

But, my window is "stuck" all the way in the down position. I tried to pull/push it up...but it won't budge. It looks to be still attached to the window regulator (via the guide jaw?...but steel cable in the window regulator has some slack).

So, how do I get the window off of the regulator so that I can get it in the up position and then get the regulator out. (with the window up, I also get to drive the car before the part arrives)

Thanks

I just did my right rear regulator in my 99 wagon. I was able to get the window up and disconnect the slide attachment on the window. You might be able to cut the cable and move the window enough to get the clip off the channel where the regulator connects. The window is held to the regulator by a small plastic clip, looks almost like a ladies hair clip.
You might drill out the rivets holding the regulator and get the window to move. I held mine up with tissue paper stuffed in the door, while waiting for a new regulator. Probably first choice would be to cut the cable.

Good Luck

You can pull the motor off of the regulator and move the window but it sounds like the the cable is jammed. The cable that runs the window up and down could be stuck in one of the pullies. Did your window fall all the way down or did you roll it down and unable to roll it back up?

Window regulator

It could be that the window is off the tracks and stuck. That may be what caused the regulator to fail. It would be a help to know if the window was rolled down under power, or if it free fell.

You CAN fix it either way.
