OEM license plate holder install

I got a ticket for having no front plate on my E320 and I was wondering what it takes to install the oem license plate holder for the front. I see that it seems to just be able to clip in somewhere but there is no gap in the bumper for me to do so. Do I have to remove the front molding to install this?

No gap and no clip. The license plate bracket screws right into the bumper and puts holes into the impact strap that you cannot repair. If you're going to install the bracket permanently then drill it but if not, just use some thick super sticky double sided tape and stick in on straight. After you have the citation written off just remove it.

There are two clips that come out of the back of the license plate holder which looks like it slides into something...

sorry, i posted yesterday and it didn't even answer your question. insofar as
the tabs, it'll be quite obvious if you look at the front of your bumper where
the tabs go. the top of the plate holder has mounting points which should
match up with threaded screw points affixed to your bumper. if your bumper
doesn't have this, either you, or your dealer will need to install. they may
do it for free (yeah, right) as the procedure is quick and straight forward.

so basically there's no way to do it unless we drill holes into the bumper...

Or stick it on there like I mentioned above! Do it nice and straight and they'll never be able to tell!
