slight whirring sound in my 1998 E430

Is it normal (whatever that may be) to have a slight whirring sound when the car is idling and at very low speeds (less than 10 mph)? Do other E430's have this sound or do I perhaps have a weird timing chain or belts?

I'd have to hear it myself, but it's probably just the cooling fans coming on.

MBTECH,

Just wanted to let you know that I took my car in and it was a bad power steering pump that was causing the "whirring" sound. I figured it was something like that up front making the noise.

Yeah, I know what sound you mean now. I had an E430 that was also making that noise, but it didn't have any power assist either, so the cause of the problem was obviously the pump.
