Question 2001 E55 lights on a 99 E320

hey i recently purchased the 2001 avantgarde e55 lights for my 99 e320. The inner pieces I have read from posts before so I knew were not going to fit. However I am curious as to if anyone knows where you're supposed to trim down? i sanded down one edge a lil too far and poked a small hole into the light. It's nothing too big, and I got them for $175.00 as opposed to the dealer's price of $275.00

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what part I am supposed to trim down to make them fit. Also, I had to take the wire for the light out of its bracket to reach the plug. I am wondering if anyone else had to do this. Currently I have the E55 outer lights in and the E320 inner lights in (it actually doesnt look half bad) but Im sure it'll look better with the newer ones.

Also I changed the blinkers to red bulbs, looks pretty nice, but very hard to see during the day. I will hopefully take some pictures and post them up soon.

Oh and yet another question. For those who have put larger wheels on their car, what springs did you purchase to re-lower it after the initial raise?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing everyone's replys.

welcome to the forum. try using the search function and look around next time as both of your questions about the tail lights and springs have been covered before...

you have to trim and test fit the inner tail lens. and go thru that process several times until it is shaved enough to fit. you will poke and break bigger holes, that's the only way it'll fit...

yes, i also had to remove trunk carpet lining to extend the reach of the wiring to fit into the plug.

here's a link with pics and instructions:

good luck!
